Peter Schaeffing, President
Albany, NY Peter founded High Impact in June 2014 and has built a team that has become nationally known for excellence in community development finance. Peter oversees the company's growth and delivery of services, and works directly on consulting engagements as well as affordable housing, charter school, and commercial real estate transactions. He has served as Interim Chief Underwriter for a national affordable housing CDFI and provides program management oversight to several other lending programs across the U.S. Peter started the company after gaining experience in underwriting and portfolio management at New Jersey Community Capital, a regional CDFI that became High Impact's first client. He is an experienced underwriter in complex deal structures including new markets tax credits, low income housing tax credits, qualified school construction bonds, and other subsidized financing structures. Peter is an alum of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program and is a graduate of the South Carolina Honors College at the University of South Carolina, where he studied economics, political science, and finance. Peter is an active member of the community, striving to use his professional expertise to impact local neighborhoods. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Capital District and has previously served as Board Treasurer for the South End Improvement Corporation in Albany, NY from 2016-2021 and as Finance Chair on the board of Greater Brunswick Charter School from 2012-2015. In 2022, Peter reviewed over 70 grant applications as a member of the City of Albany ARPA Results Team for Housing, Transportation, & Community Revitalization, a committee evaluating applicants for American Relief Plan Act funding opportunities. |
